Tom’s Fall-Winter Tour Begins in Las Vegas
Saturday, October 15th, 2005Hi All:
Well, judging from the shows thus far in Vegas, our Tom is better than ever!
Back to just a goatee, but looking great, he’s added a song here or there — last night and earlier in the week he sang Goin’ Down Slow and the word is he’s going to add his terrific version of Polk Salad Annie.
The energy is amazing. This man just feeds on the audience’s positive reaction and just keeps gettng better. And his band and back-up cannot be surpassed. (Is our opinion biased?)
Let us know what you think as you see him in the next few weeks.
Ellen & Ursula

Saw Tom at MGM on 10/12 and 10/14/05. As always, Tom did a great job. He did talk about and sing Going Down Slow on 10/14. He needs to try some new material and jokes. There are so many great songs he could sing for variety. I have seen TJ five times this year… and not much has changed from show to show. I’m glad he went back to goatee, but would like to see all facial hair gone. The staff at MGM had a fit when my sexbomb girlfriend tried to snap a photo, but did nothing while a drunken bleach-blonde bimbo stood up and danced during the whole show… blocking the view for those behind her.

Well, I too just got back from a week in Vegas where I saw Tom perform 4 nights in a row. You are right, he is better everyday. His band is also awesome. They are so polished and professional and Tom gives them all a chance to shine. I can hardly wait till January when he’ll be back at the MGM in Las Vegas.

My daughter and I have seen Tom at Resorts in AC and at the MGM in Vegas. Where does he get the energy? The shows are great, and we love the Jerry Lee Lewis tribute. I hope he records that.

Hi Ladies- Just discovered your site today (through the official site). Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! I saw Tom this weekend (Saturday Oct 15) in Las Vegas. It was my 10th show and, of course, was fantastic as always. Tom performed the same set I’ve seen him do since Dec 2003 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. I’m excited to hear he may be adding some new material since I am planning to see him in the Spring. Good work and good luck! -Laura

I’ve been seeing Tom since 1983 and he truly is getting better with age. I brought my girlfriend to see him 3 years ago and she is hooked. We go to Atlantic City as much as possible to see him because we live in New Jersey and get to Vegas at least twice a year. In between that, we will go to some of his one-nighters here on the east coast. Even though his shows are great, I think he needs some new tunes to freshen it up. Whatever he sings is wonderful. Love your new website!

I was also in Las Vegas in October and saw his preformance on Friday the 14th at the MGM. As Elvisguitarman said above, the staff worried about someone trying to take a pic but the blonde that stood up most of the concert (in front of people) did not seem to bother them. I am glad she was not in front of me…….that’s for sure.
I went to see Tom Jones not only because I enjoy his music but because of my Mother. I lost her 7 years ago and one of her favorite singers was Tom Jones. She use to say to me “Tom Jones can move his body just like that Elvis of yours & he is one sexy man”. I can remember her telling me that when I was a teenager. You would have to have known my Mother to appreciate her even making that statement.
The concert was great and as for me I love the goatee…..It makes him look younger. If anyone has a chance to see him on tour, please do because you will really enjoy the songs along with his MOVES.

I just came back from seeing Tom in Las Vegas on October 12th and the show was fantastic. He’s in great shape and abounding with energy. His voice is awesome and the emotion he puts into the ballads brings tears to my eyes as I am listening to this amazing singer. The audience was going crazy thru the whole show and he certainly deserved it. I was in the front row and was able to give him a gift and he gave me a special gift in return…a very nice kiss on the lips!! He got a standing ovation at the end of the show. I am a forever devoted Tom Jones fan and very proud of it.

We saw Tom at the MGM on October 16th. This was our first time seeing him. We aren’t big fans (both 40 yrs old) but thought it would be a good Vegas show. We were certainly right. The show was great. His energy is amazing. His voice is a gift — how he keeps it in such good shape is amazing. We are currently on a Tom Jones listening spree.

Has anyone that’s seen him recently (October) also been to one of his shows over the summer? I have a chance to see him at a club in November, but the tickets are a little expensive. Plus, I saw him this summer at an open air theater. If the shows are likely the same, I may have to pass. Or should I expect a different show in a night club vs amphitheater?

I saw Tom 4 times at the MGM on 7th 8th 9th & 10th October, whilst on holiday in Las Vegas from the UK. I thought they were some of the best shows ever and I have seen Tom dozens of times over the years. He just seems to get better and better, his voice is amazing, and his energy, wow, and I love the goatee beard, think he looks great.Regarding the songs in the show I would just like to mention the last time I saw Tom at the MGM was in April 2004, and the show was very different then, then he was doing the songs which he first sang on his UK tour in 2003. The songs he is doing now he first sang in the UK on his Summer Nights tour in July 2004, (along with the hits of course ).when he first sang the songs that he recorded with Jools Holland, which was released on CD in September 2004 in the UK only.So I think he generally changes his act about every year to 18 months. The thing is the majority of the audience havent seen the act before so its new to them, if like me you choose to go on several ocassions you accept that you will hear the same songs for a certain time.I’m sure there will be some new songs next year.I don’t think there are many artsts that keep their act as up to date as Tom, when I saw his concert at Ponty Park in May this year he did all kinds of songs from throughout his career.

Scott, the show has stayed essentially the same for quite awhile. But, seeing him in a club is a very different experience. If it’s a club like HOB or Irving Plaza there’s an immediacy that’s lacking in a theater or casino that is present in a club setting. Our recommendation — go to the club.

Man! I had wanted to see TJ in Vegas this past October but money and time prevented me. And now I hear he did Going Down Slow in concert. DARN! I’ve been playing that song a lot recently. I wish he’d do more blues songs like that, and as everyone else has mentioned, another blues album.
I had planned to see him in Reno, but everything conspired against me. I couldn’t get outta town on time; then my rear tire blew in the middle of nowhere; and when I got to the hotel the concert was already 45 minutes underway and the box office closed. I detest Ticketmaster and had refused to buy a ticket earlier through them. I thought about staying another night, then decided not to. Another car malfuction would have put me in dire straits in the middle of nowhere again only around midnight or 1am (I would have had to leave immediately after the concert to be at work the next morning) and I just didn’t want to chance it. So I went and had my nails done instead.
Well, Tom Jones International folks, the official website had a contest awhile back asking if fans would suggest songs for Tom to sing but seems to have petered out. I don’t remember much coming from it. How about setting up a song request section? I have some suggestions I’m just itching to make!
BTW, for those who were curious, I think he’s limited with certain sets/songs in concert because he has a horn section. (A great horn section, too!) Most of his hits have horns and he has to do those. But alot of the songs people want to hear as a set don’t include horns, so what is the band to do?

Great idea, Dana. See our fan fare section for a place to list songs you’d like to hear him do.

Hi, I love this website. I saw Tom Oct 16th and he is wonderful. This was the third time at MGM. I hope to go back in Jan. I am in the younger group of the females that love Tom, all of my friends think I am nuts. He has a sophistication about him that no other has. I would love to see those beautiful blue eyes up close and personal. Julia

First off, thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful site!
My Sister Sue and I were honored to meet the “brains” behind this website as well as other TJ fans the evening of October 10th in Vegas. It does not surprise me that a performer as great as Mr. Jones has such a wonderful following of geniunely great people! It was indeed a pleasure to meet you all!
And, I have to agree that Mr. Jones does continue to get better and better. Although the show was basically the same as it was in August of last year, he was in such a great mood that it just seemed “different.” He interacted with the audience much more than before and being on the front row allowed us to actually experience that devilish gleam in his eyes!
However, the show the following Friday, October 14th, was the show of shows! The way he cleverly worked in Goin’ Down Slow was incredible. It was like he was teasing us as he started out just talking the lyrics. By the time he launched into full song, everyone was sittng on the edge of their seats with anticipation!
I can now only imagine him performing Polk Salad Annie and can’t wait to hear from others if and when this comes about! I just hope he keeps that song in the show until I can get to see him again!!

I am a professional male singer in the Asian community in the US and my repertoire includes quite a bit of TJ’s top hits . TJ is such a great singer, a great singing technique I ever seen and also so much energy. I would say he can be an opera singer, too. TJ is someone I look up to. I used to be an Elvis fan, but since TJ came out, forget about Elvis. Sorry Elvis fans!
Always, Paolo

I think it is very sad Alexander Woodward considers himself Welsh and not an American. He was born in these great United States of America and his mother is an American. His loyalty should be for the U.S. What about his mother’s family? I love Tom but this “green card” thing has gone too far. Where would he be if it had not been for the U.S? It sounds like his grandson was not allowed to be an American. Well, he can stay in England and win for Wales.
October 26th, 2005 at 2:06 pm
I think, DRNASCA, the reason why the Woodwards moved to the U.K. with their children was because of the crime rate in Los Angeles (remember the riots?), the possible exposure to drugs and gangs and for the better eductation that the U.K. has there. I think it was a good move on their part — I’d probably have done the same if I was them. As for the “green card” thing, I think Tom Jones has said many times that he is very thankful for the loyalty his U.S.fans have shown him and the opportunity to live in this country; to live in Los Angeles where much of the entertainment business is based. But I think he also has said (correct me if I’m wrong), if he could, he would like to be back in the U.K. but due to the tax laws it just doesn’t make “cents” for him to do so. As for Alexander considering himself Welsh, isn’t it his choice to choose his own identity?
October 27th, 2005 at 4:55 am
I think, Dana, that you are missing the point. He and his sister are Americans. What is there to choose in terms of identity? Going to England to pursue an education is one thing, stating he has always felt Welsh vs. American is another and what about the statement that he is closer to the British family than he is to the American family, I think was in poor taste. I don’t think he was allowed to be an American. As for the green card, if he (Tom) is getting all the benefits this great country has to offer, why not be a citizen? As for you doing the same thing, well if you are an American and you think this way after 9/11, then that is your loss. I have been a fan since 1969 and continue to be a fan of his great, great talent but personally if you are here in the U.S. taking advantage of all this country has to offer, then be a citizen and may I add that I was not born in these great United States of America. As for the crime and riots in L.A., I don’t think Alex and Emma lived in those neighborhoods. Copa de Oro is not in a riot zone. Have a nice day.
October 27th, 2005 at 8:28 am
Ursula and I have watched the discussion between DRNASCA and Dana with interest and wish to point out that one thing that makes both the U.S.and the U.K. great is the right of people to disagree.
Having said that, we respectfully request that this discussion end.
We hold fast to the hope that this site will focus on Tom Jones’ talents and on-stage life and not degenerate into a flash point for disagreement as so many other sites and discussion boards have.
Thank you for understanding.

I hope to see Tom in concert for the first time in February. I got turned on to his voice in April 2005 and I listen to him every God blessed day. I bought three of his Loaded CD’s, three of his Reloaded CD’s, two of Mr. Jones, and one Loaded. He’s in my car, in my home, and in my headset. I cannot get enough! He works out with me on the treadmill every day. This man is a legend. May God continue to bless him with good health and that “voice.”

YES!!!…………..Today is a day of celebration for me. I have finally snagged 1st row tickets to see Tom at the MGM in Las Vegas on Saturday, December 17th and Sunday, December 18th. Now, if I can get a kiss on the cheek, my Christmas present will be early and my Tom Jones fantasy complete!!!

Had the most wonderful experience on November 6th in Atlantic City. Didn’t have the best seats, but that didn’t matter. I saw Tom Jones. He was soooo much better in person, if that is possible. I need to buy a video, to hear him is great, but to see him is another experience altogether. I am in love. I have never felt this way about any concert/performance. I now know why all the women go crazy and my husband is now a big fan too! The definition of charisma is Tom Jones!
