Friday, October 28th, 2005Hello. Do you have any knowledge as to when the MGM Grand will begin selling tickets for his January 2006 appearances? I e-mailed them and they are very evasive.
Laura, when we called they told us “any day” and to “check frequently.” Should be soon, though.
However, Tom will be at the MGM December 16 through 20 and tickets are on sale now. Call 1-800-929-1111 or 702-891-7777.

Thank you. I actually purchased tickets for Saturday and Sunday and finally got front row seats. Do you ladies know of any way that a devoted fan can get a backstage pass to meet Tom? I know it’s a long shot, but I really don’t want to be one of those gals that hangs out at the stage trying to get Tom’s attention.
I recently read an old interview that Tom had with Larry King, and Tom indicated that he is dyslexic. Is that true?
I will hate myself in the morning, but I have to ask……boxers or briefs?
Thank you.

Hi, Laura:
Here’s a link to the transcript of the Larry King interview:
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0311/07/lkl.00.html
And, yes, he does discuss his particular type of dyslexia.
You needn’t “hate yourself in the morning,” but we hear it’s (very) briefs…..just look at some of our photos fron Westbury in the 80s where he’s fixing his shirt onstage.
As for backstage passes, our only advice is to write his management — address on tomjones.com — and ask them.
Good luck.

In addition to looking back at old photos, you can get the answer to the boxer or briefs question when you attend his shows.
At the end, Mr. Jones turns his back to the crowd and either bows to his band, or just bends over to tease the ladies sitting up front with one last glimpse of that wonderful bum. It is then clear to see that Mr. Jones did and still does wear briefs.
Speaking of his attire leads to my own question…
Tom Jones has always demonstrated an extreme sense of style, taking great care with his physical looks as well as clothing. I’m wondering how we can get word to him or his management to suggest that he change his stage costume.
I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed it, but there seems to be a ‘press sheen’ on the lower righthand, underneath side of his tunic. When he flips up the lefthand side of the shirt during 200 Pounds of Heavenly Joy, it’s terribly distracting! Isn’t that a sign that it’s time to retire that particular outfit and get thyself to a tailor??
Some performers take the stage attire to extremes by changing clothes after every song. Tom, however, has been wearing the same outfit for quite a while now. Although he looks great in whatever he’s wearing, I just think a change would be nice.

I agree, it is time for a new stage outfit. I would love to see Tom In a nice black jeans and a white T-shirt or black T-shirt. I think he would look great and that style would look great on his sexy body

Julia, thanks for the great “visual.”

Ladies, if you have the opportunity to do so, get a copy of the hardcover book “Tom Jones” by Chris Roberts and look at page 143 - Tom in jeans. You will have a “Wow” moment.

You’re right, Laura, it’s got such great photos, doesn’t it? I love the last one, the black and white. If you don’t have the book, you can usually find it on eBay. The postage from the UK is high because the book is heavy, but the book itself is usually very reasonable and an excellent investment for a TJ fan.

Ellen,
I love the photos in that book. I, too, love the black and white you reference. I found that book, Tom Jones Close-Up and Tom Jones: the Biography on Amazon.com and purchased all three. I also recently purchased on eBay an April 2005 issue of Independent Magazine (UK) with Tom on the cover, a 1969 Look magazine with Tom on the cover and Tom Jones — Live This Moment DVD from Brazil.
I can’t wait to see Tom at the MGM in December. Front row seats on Saturday and Sunday will be the highlight of my holiday season. I did write to his British site asking for a backstage photo opp, but have not heard from them.
My 23 year old son recently commented to me that he wished there was a super-talent like Tom for his generation. I showed him the Live At Cardiff Castle DVD with Tom singing The Boy From Nowhere and he was so impressed. Not an easy task considering my son’s favorite band is Filter (very hard rock.) Just goes to show that Tom’s talent transcends every generation.

I ordered the book Tom Jones by Chris Roberts, page 143 is WOW. In fact the book is great. I would love to have the DVD, Live At Cardiff Castle and Live this Moment DVD from Brazil. Where can I order this?
You are so right that Tom’s music transcends every generation. My mother and sister were fans long before I even thought about listening to his music. Once I did, I have been hooked.
I hope to go back to see him in March in Las Vegas and would love to get a picture with him. He is at any age, one of the sexiest men on the planet.
Ellen and Ursula have done us all a great big favor with this website. Thank you for all of your hard work. We all love it.

Thank you, Julia. The compliments and feedback from everyone who visits our site mean a great deal to us.
Check eBay for both DVDs. If they’re not there now, make them part of your favorite searches. They will turn up and you’ll be notified by email. If that fails, you can find Cardiff Castle at amazon.ca. Remember to check for region compatibility.
