Tom, Diana & Tom
Friday, February 24th, 2006The first time I took my wife Diana to see Tom Jones was January 20, 2005 at MGM. That was her birthday present. When I suggested it, she said, “I’d love to see Tom Jones, I’ve always wanted to.”
We arrived a half-hour before show time and we were able to move up front to Table 5, right in the center next to the stage. It was so incredible. It was the first time we’d both seen him in person. I shook hands with him as he was leaving the stage. We went again May 6 and, so far this year, we’ve seen him three times.

On January 21, a friend took Diana backstage to meet Tom. He took a picture with her and was just terrific.
Then on January 30, we were both able to go backstage again with that friend.
That night, Sandy took us backstage and then Don came in. When Tom came in, I was elated. I thought it was a wonderful experience meeting him. He is the only living legend left.
I showed him the photo of himself and Diana and I said, “Tom, I want you to see this picture of this guy who’s running around with my wife.” He laughed and signed the picture. Tom and I were set to take a photo together.Don took the camera and, then, Tom called Diana over to join us in the photo.
While we were taking the picture, I told him how great he was. He said, “Yes, I see you out there. And I hear you.”
He was very gracious. I said to him, “Tom, you’re the best there is and I want to thank you,”
He thanked us for the good wishes and we left anticipating the next show. It was an amazing night!

Tom, thanks for sharing your story with us. It just goes to prove that Tom Jones is the kind of man who deserves all the adoration he gets! I’m glad you and your wife were able to meet “The Man” and have such a wonderful visit with him.

Ladies thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure. I love Tom Jones from way back as so many of us do. When we went to see him the first time we were so blown away that the next day I had to go and get every CD out there. They have not stopped playing since. Not only that, but I managed to convert a Engelbert fan to a Tom Jones fan. I can proudly say that she still talks about Tom and since she saw Tom does not even mention the name Engelbert. But, I want to share with you the moment Mr.Jones walked into the dressing room where I was left alone for a few minutes by my friends. It was the biggest thrill of my life. He was the most pleasant, kind person you ever want to meet. As one big fan to another I hope you get to experience that thrill, too. —Diana

As Diana mentioned above, it was an exceptionally special experience to actually meet TOM JONES. Diana and I are looking forward to his next engagement and we can’t wait to see him walk out on to the stage at the Hollywood Theater at the MGM GRAND in Las Vegas, take the microphone and do what nobody else anywhere can do to an audience. Diana and I have seen TJ six times since that first show on January 20,2005 and each and every time he seemed to outdo himself! Believe me, I am not exaggerating, TOM JONES is incredibly better than ever, and that is saying a lot when considering the tremendous volume of work he has done and the dynamic way in which only he is able to perform. Diana and I have been fans of the entire spectrum of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century, and there have been many who have come to perform in Las Vegas, BUT, there is nobody like, TOM JONES. Anywhere.

Thank you both. I am so very excited about seeing him again in April. This will be my fifth time and I think I get more excited each time I see him. Tom, you are the man.

Tom and Diana, What did Tom mean when he said, “I can hear you out there?” I think it’s great to show our appreciation of Tom with some enthusiasm. Quite often, I am the only person giving him a standing ovation, as others around me just sit and stare at me. ;o(( How great as a couple, you can share mutual love for Tom!!
