Please share your Tom Jones shows with other fans. Setlist? Audience? Energy? What was it like being there? We’d love to hear from you.
And, while you’re telling us about the shows, please let us know what you think of the venues where Tom plays. Clubs, theaters, casinos — Tom Jones performs in all of them. Which venue do you think is the best? The worst?
So that other fans will know what’s in store when they buy their tickets, please tell us a little bit about the venues you know. If possible, try to use the format below so others can tell at a glance what you think. The best venue will merit ****. More than one review of a venue is welcome.
Miss Rhythm & Mr. Jones
Wednesday, March 15th, 2006On March 14, Ruth Brown was in the audience at Tom’s MGM show. A Grammny winner, Tony winner and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (who was given the name “Miss Rhythm” years ago by Frankie Laine, one of Tom’s early influences), Ruth was bowled over.
She said:
Tom Jones is a miracle. He’s better than ever and, more than anyone, he gives me hope.
He gives me hope because he is keeping the music alive. The old songs, the meaningful songs that he does so beautifully. You can understand the words and feel the emotions when he sings.
Tom is proof that as a singer gets older and has more life experience, the words take on more meaning. When he sings about love and loss, you know he feels it.
I have to say something about his band, too. They are great — each and every one as the individuals you hear in their solos and as a group. They are tight and they add so much to the show. They could stand alone but, lucky for us, they are working with this great, gifted artist.
Tom’s energy is so amazing. He takes my breath away.

What a great testament from one legend to another! BTW, have they ever performed together??? If the answer to my question is already posted someplace, please excuse the duplication…

Just a quick note to let everyone know Rachel Ray of the Food Network was recently interviewed on Entertainment Tonight and when she was asked who she’s thinking of having first on her new talk show, she said it would have to be Tom. He’s been her idol since she was 3 years old so that should be interesting to watch if it happens!!

Thank you for sharing Ms. Brown’s words and feelings about Tom. It was great to read what she had to say about Tom. I also agree with her about the band and back up singers. They all seem to have great respect for each other and are all so talented. It makes for a great show! I think it also makes the audience more relaxed when everyone on stage is having fun.

Ms. Brown’s words are so graceful. It is amazing how Tom can still take our breath away after all these years. I hope to catch her show one day and this is a woman who looks like she has some great stories.

Wow, what a gorgeous photo and beautiful words said by the peerless Ruth Brown about TJ. They both look pretty happy:=))

I was also at that terrific show on Tuesday at the MGM and met up with Ruth again after two years. She looks and sounds great and was so thrilled to be seeing Tom again. Tom certainly was enjoying himself that night and he looked and sounded terrific. I was so pleased to hear him sing the new songs he had added to his show.
Love ya Tommy!!!!!!!!!!!! Shirl

i was at the show on the 14th. Ms Brown is righ; Tom is the greatest. After all the years i have seen him perform this may have been his best show. His voice, his stage presence, his band and back up singers — all perfection. Thanks to Great Britain for giving us Tom!!!
