Hot off the TV, the photo at left is one of several screen shots from the April 30 edition of Top Of The Pops chart show broadcast in the UK at 7 p.m. today. Its message is clear.
The host of the show said of Chicane’s collaboration with Tom, “This band is giving this young man his first shot at stardom. Maybe you have seen him in Mars Attacks!”
Congratulations to Sir Tom and Nick.
The Screen Shots set from Top of the Pops is now up. There are a couple of terrific photos of TJ like the one at right.
May 1: On the dance singles chart the song is #9.

Wow, thanks also to Andre and to the Moderators for getting this online so quickly. How great it is to be able to see Tom across the pond when he is appearing there, and even greater to see Tom getting such praise for his new release there!!!!!!!!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaa, Sir Tom!!!!

Not very good quality on my pc, very jerky, blurry and with sound out of sync. Might be of interest to those who haven’t heard Tom sing the song straight without the technical twiddlings on his voice.

The people of Chicane — thanks! Ihope the success of this song wil encourage other songwriters to do the same as Chicane, take a good song, get him in front of a microphone and just let the man sing.

I want this song as my ringtone. Any idea what site I can get it from (I’m in Canada). Tom Jones is electrifying and I love him furiously, in spite of myself.

NOT, sadly, a cover of the helium-voiced ’70s soul classic I’m Stone In Love With You, by the Stylistics, even though Tom’s perm could give any flared funkateers a run for their money. This is an all new trance-pop workout which does the unthinkable, takes that red meat voice of Mr Jones’s, and robo-fies it. Which makes it, what, a steak AND an electric carving knife, all at the same time.

mharding….that clip sounds so bizarre, but thanks for the heads up. I really am looking forward to hearing him sing it live this weekend. I have to say it again…I really do love this song.

Hi. Thanks mharding! The video was giving me a headache but I must say I like this version too. You can actually hear that full bodied and beautiful voice of his. I’d like to hear it live. Thanks for sharing with us!

You can back-chat the promo copy if you like. There’s a column on the right of that page called “Have Your Say, go on shout your mouth off”. Someone called Lee has already said the song “rules”.
