March 1st & 2nd MGM Shows Cancelled
Wednesday, January 24th, 2007Tom’s appearances at the MGM Grand on March 1st and 2nd have been cancelled “for personal reasons.”
Although there’s no official announcement, we’d guess that the cancellation is due to the fact that March 2 is his 50th wedding anniversary
So, mazel tov and good for him!
He will be at the MGM May 3rd through 9th.

I think New York fans like myself should be aware that the Atlantic City dates at the Hilton have not been confirmed by his office even though they are selling on Ticketmaster. I don’t know why that is the case, but his website is warning fans not to make plans yet. We’ll see………

“I would cancel too if it was my 50th anniversary,” Cindy says. Yes, of course, but how could it be a surprise to him ?? Why did he book the shows in the first place ???

Don’t think he does his own booking, vetting each and every date. We’d put it down to an oversight, wouldn’t you?

I don’t reckon he books the dates personally either, but since it is a serious thing to cancel a show - people having made travelling arrangements, been looking forward to the show, etc. I do think that the people actually booking the shows should confirm with the man himself…

Happy 50th Anniversary to Tom & Linda! And wishes for many more!

Hi, All:
As moderators it’s our job to, well, moderate. And while it may be amusing to speculate on what went on with the family and how the March 1 and 2 dates got contracted, the fact is that it happened. And, it is quite true — an unfortunate — that some people will be greatly inconvenienced and may also be out-of-pocket as a result of the cancellation.
But our purpose is to be sure that people stick to Tom Jones’ career and performance, not his personal life. So we are not going to post any more comments on this strand, as we’re getting tired of having to be so vigilant.
If you saw Dana’s comment here we have to say it was, indeed, very funny. And leads to all sorts of amusing imaginings. But her post elicited a very upset response that we’ve told the poster would be better sent to his management via the official site. Just scroll down to the bottom of the tomjones.com homepage and you’ll find contact information. These comments do not get posted on his forum but are sent to his office.
But, Dana, and the rest of you — keep posting. Sorry for this.
