Tom’s March Dates in AC Cancelled Says Hilton Box Office

The box office at the Atlantic City Hilton today confirmed that Tom’s performances there have been cancelled. We assume money spent for tickets will be refunded.

We apologize for misleading anyone by saying the shows were on in March. Please be assured that we do not post anything unless we have it from at least one excellent source. That was true in the case of the Hilton shows. But, as does occasionally happen, even the best of sources wasn’t fully informed until yesterday and, as you know, tickets were being sold.

We’ll be more vigilant. Promise.

    For everyone’s information that bought tickets through Ticketmaster, as I did, there is no problem refunding your money. I just called Ticketmaster who verified the event was indeed cancelled and will issue a credit on your card within 5-7 business days. The fact still remains that OUR MAN cancelled and that is sad.

    Hi. It seems to me that you do not need to apologize. If Ticketmaster was selling tickets then someone got their wires crossed, not you!! I have come to rely on you (Ellen & Ursula) not only for wonderful reviews and thought provoking questions but also for possible and certain concert dates. This was definitely not your fault. :-)

    I appreciate your help. I had four tickets for Sunday night the 25th and I have already been contacted by ticketmaster that the show was cancelled and I will receive a full refund. It seems I will not see Tom for some time now. I am so sad. I hope he is alright. This is the second time he has cancelled in Atlantic City. :{

    I’m not sure of these dates are correct, (they are not confirmed) but Tom is supposed to be in AC August 2-5 :)

  5. Vince Says:

    Which hotel, Brianne, and where is this new info coming from?

  6. Moderator Says:

    Tom is slated to play Resorts in AC beginning the first Thursday through the first Sunday (the 2nd through the 5th) in August. Our link “Where’s Tom & When’s He There?” is often helpful.

  7. Suzanne Says:

    Tom didn’t cancel the AC dates due to any health issues. And, FYI, don’t count on those August dates. I wouldn’t buy tickets unless or until Tom’s website can confirm them.

    As moderators of this site we feel a tremendous responsibility to you to only post accurate information. Please believe that we check our sources before we pass on any news. And if we think a story is specious, we say so (Sir Tom vs. Mike Tyson?). If we find something we’ve posted as fact is incorrect we say that, too.

    While we don’t share our sources, as that would be violating someone’s trust, they are generally solid. We hope you’ve come to realize that. We certainly cannot vouch for anything posted here by anyone else, although we won’t post anything we know to be untrue.

    All this fuss about the Hilton cancellation should be put in context. It’s the first time in a long time — at least since we’ve launched this site — this has happened. That’s once in — what? — a few hundred dates? When Tom cancelled two shows in AC last July, he was ill and it was so announced there. The March 1st and 2nd cancellation at MGM looks to be just human error in scheduling dates.

    As for August in AC, despite what Suzanne says above (and we don’t know why she’s saying that or where she gets her inside information), we’d emphatically say, yes, buy tickets for AC in August. If Resorts and Ticketmaster sell them and the show doesn’t happen, you can always get a refund. Just don’t make expensive travel plans until you are satisfied that the show will happen. Although, in fact, you can reserve a room and then cancel with no penalty if you do so several days in advance.

    We believe it’s definitely better to hedge your bets than to try to place a bet after the game has started. (Pardon the gambling metaphor, but we do live in Las Vegas.)

    Things are looking better and better for Tom to be in AC in August. Good news for everyone having to miss seeing him in March.
