Some Odds & Ends: DVD Review From A Major US Newspaper and News of TJ
Friday, June 29th, 2007According to the UK’s Sky News (via mharding) Sir Tom will sing The Arctic Monkeys hit I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor at the Concert for Diana. Go Tom!
Next, news about Tom’s evening with Shirley Bassey at Elton John’s “White Tie and Tiara Ball” for charity. No photos of Tom in this article, though. In The Mirror a report on the party described Dame Shirley and Sir Elton duetting. Then said, “But all hell broke loose when Sir Tom took to the stage. The dancefloor was packed, and the air was full of bras and knickers being flung towards the stage.
“As the evening wore on, guests descended on a makeshift casino at the end of the bar. There Liz Hurley’s husband Arun Nayar was chatting to Louis Walsh. Two feet away, Tom Jones was telling Natasha Bedingfield how much he “loved her work”. Not that old chat-up line!” (We say: We’re sure he meant it. Really.)
Here’s a DVD review from the Chicago Sun-Times.
Here are the wireimage photos from Hampton Court.

This is terrific - more please!
In my impatience to get hold of TITJ (I don’t know what’s going on with the PAL version over here) I have ordered the NTSC version from amazon.com which should arrive shortly. I am ever the optimist and hope I can find a piece of machinery that will play it, possibly my laptop. If not I am probably going to cry.

Sorry, Jared, we can’t make it work. It was only about seven seconds, with Tom saying of knicker-throwing at Hampton Court, “It all depends who’s on the stage. It’s intimate and you know that every seat’s a good seat.”
If you must hear it, you can search the BBC website for “tom jones hampton court.”
Gotta love the British press!
