Final Chance To Order TJI.com 2008 Calendar

calendar cover 11×8.5

The deadline on 2008 TJI.com calendar orders is nearing. The printer is a bit backed up, so we have a bit more time to take orders.

The calendar, as you can see from this cover, is 11×8.5. It is 28 pages (including the cover). The photos are, as far as we know all fan photos and, in addition to the photos, significant dates in Tom’s career are noted.

This is a labor of love and we are very excited about it.

The cost for the calendar is $20 USD. Shipping in the US is included. Outside the US, there is a $6 S&H fee. Ordering for USA delivery is easy — just use the link at the right.

Outside the US, the easiest way to order is to bypass the link at right and, instead, go to your PayPal account, click “send money” and then send $26 USD to 301partners@gmail.com

Exclusive TJI.com Video! Planet Hollywood Resort Opens in Las Vegas & Tom Was There

ph opening 2

You’ve probably read that Tom was there when Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino had its grand opening November 17 and might have seen this or other photos of the event.

Bruce Willis, Barbra Streisand (both of them performed) and a host of other celebs were there, too.

What you haven’t seen is this exclusive video from the red carpet given to TJI.com by our friends at Vegas Community Online. No one else has this video and, while it isn’t earth-shattering, we’re pleased to be able to post it for you. (And check out Sandy, natty in a black suit!)

The delay in posting it was due to problems with the sound.

Hope you like it.

First Review of This Leg of Tom’s Tour Posted. What Do You Think?

It’s not unusual: Jones keeps the ladies swooning

First of two Temecula shows packs them in

By George A. Paul, Music Writer, Press Telegram Long Beach, CA, 11/27/2007 04:52:29 PM PST

Some concert rituals never die.

When Tom Jones began a series of shows at the Copacabana in New York, crazed female fans started throwing their undergarments on stage.

Nearly 40 years later, the embarrassing tradition continues, as evidenced throughout a packed gig at Pechanga on Friday night.

Just A Few Minutes & The Last Tour of 2007 Will Begin

Be sure to read nancy j’s review of Pechanga in the comments section.

In, literally, just a few minutes, Tom and the gang go onstage at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

Then it’s on to Atlantic City where they play the Hilton next Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Finally, it’s back to Las Vegas, December 6 through 19.

We wish everyone great gigs and hope that we hear from you if you get to see them.

Rumor Or Reality? Tom’s Gigs In 2008 Include MGM Grand. We’re Told “Yes.”

hollywood theatreAlthough it’s not fact until confirmed by tomjones.com, we’ve been told by two reliable sources that Tom will be playing the MGM Grand next year on, basically, the same schedule as he did until the last couple of times. That is, several two-week stands equaling 10 or 12 weeks.

While this hasn’t been confirmed by Tom’s management, we’re hopeful (and optimistic) that the people who told us this are right.

Remember, the MGM website has nothing for the Hollywood Theatre beyond January 2, 2008, so nothing should be read into the fact that they don’t have Tom there next year.

Calendar Notes: Postage For Non-US Orders; Apologies For Any Inconvenience

calendar cover sampleCalendar Notes: This calendar, unlike others you might have seen, is filled with fan photos (and, perhaps, one from a newspaper). But we intend this to be a fan calendar and that means the images might not be polished, or professional, but they’re photos fans cherish. We hope you will, too.

For non-US orders, please add $6 S & H. If you’ve already ordered calendars to go to Europe or Canada, just go to your PayPal account, click on “send money” and in the “to” box, put 301partners@gmail.com and send the S&H for each calendar.

If you haven’t ordered and want the calendar sent to Europe or Canada — anywhere outside the US — please do not use the PayPal button below but, instead, order from your individual account as above.

We’re sorry for any confusion, we didn’t think ahead well enough and we thought only people in the US would do the early order. Deepest apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks!

calendar cover sample

Finally! We’re about to send the TJI.com 2008 Calendar to the printer. You can see a sample of the cover — Chas’ great photo of Tom at his Ponty Park Concert — and there’s lots more good stuff inside.

The calendar measures 8.5 x 11 and is priced at $20. To get an idea of exactly how many to print, we’re giving people who pre-order free shipping to any location the US when the printing is complete (which, at the latest, will be early December).

The link here allows you to buy only one copy. If you want to buy more than one, just log into your PayPal account, click on “send money” and, where it says “to” put in “301Partners@gmail.com.” Then put in the amount equal to the number of calendars you want to purchase @ $20 each.

Although the calendar will be on sale through December (or until we run out), the last day for this offer is Friday, November 30.

We’ll shortly have shipping info for countries outside the US. If you’ve already ordered, we’ll email you with the postal charges and you can add them or, you can wait and we’ll post the total.

We’re really excited about the calendar and hope you will be, too. Just click the button below to order via PayPal.

Some 2008 Tour Dates Posted

Tom’s official site has posted some 2008 tour dates (and be sure to check the next page on that site, as they are listed in reverse chronological order). We are assuming this is a partial list and it’s interesting (and nice) that fans in North Dakota, Vancouver and other far-flung places that Tom usually does not visit will be getting to see him. These also include Iowa, a suburb of St. Louis, the Florida Strawberry Festival, Plant City FL, Marksville, LA, and Norman and Thackerville OK. We are really happy for those fans.

For those people seeing Tom at MGM in December, a reminder that they’ve double-booked the room so that Tom’s shows are at 7:30 each night except December 8th (the night of the big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton), when Tom’s show is at 10 p.m. The later slot in the Hollywood Theatre those two weeks are occupied by comic Rodney Carrington.

And, finally, let us hope that all these venues dip into Tom’s on-line-for-journalists-and-venues-only electronic press kit (EPK) and use some of the newer photos contained therein. We’ve already shown you the lobby card photo the MGM uses. Here’s the one from their website. It’s a nice photo, but he looks good today, so why use this one that’s several years old? Our guy deserves better, doesn’t he?

November 5, 1981: Tom Plays The Beaumont (TX) Civic Center

From the November 5, 2007 edition of The Beaumont Enterprise in Texas, a look back at the opening of the city’s Civic Center April 17, 1978 when the first performer was Tom Jones. The photo was taken by staff photographer Peter Churton at that performance. The article is a little cheesy, and it isn’t exactly correct, as he certainly does not play “almost daily shows at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,” but it’s always nice when people look back with warm memories.

TALES: In 1978, Tom Jones became first act to perform at Fair Park Coliseum

By: FRED DAVIS, The Enterprise/11/05/2007

beaumont TX 1978It’s not unusual for women to fawn over Tom Jones.

And 26 years ago today, women were doing more than just fawning over the Welsh-born sex symbol when he played to a packed house at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Known to some as “The Voice,” with that deep, vivacious barreling voice, the curly locks and a toothy, pearl-white smile, Jones was a Beaumont favorite from the time he was the first act at Fair Park Coliseum in 1978 to the last time he graced Beaumont with his presence in 1990 at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Always the charmer, during his Fair Park performance, Jones took a pair of panties that were thrown on stage and wiped sweat from his face with them.

Then there was the 1981 show, which Liz MacKenzie attended along with friend Billie Jean Sorrells.

MacKenzie said they had average seats, but that they were up high and so in order to get a good look at Jones, they brought binoculars.

Something About You, Tom, We Like….Vintage Video

Here’s Tom in the early 70s singing one of our favorite songs, Something About You Baby. It’s not great video, but it’s just joyous and we hope you like it as much as we do.
