March Question of the Month: A Good Tag Line?
Saturday, March 1st, 2008In advertising, a “tag line” is a slogan or a catchphrase identified with a product of individual. For example, AmEx says, “Don’t leave home without it.” Las Vegas has “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” The Yellow Pages advise us to “Let your fingers do the walking” and the the dairy industry asks simply, “Got milk?”
Last week, working with some of our clients — a group of entertainers — we were asked to come up with a tag line for their new ads. Of all the choices proposed*, the line we liked best was:
“The one-night stand you’ll remember forever.”
It is short, memorable (and easy to remember) and totally unsuitable for our group, but we of course thought of one entertainer for whom it is perfect.
So, our question of the month is:
If you had to write a tag line — a slogan — for Sir Tom, what would it be?

Oooh! These are right up my alley. Ellen, did you know the word “slogan” comes from sluagh-ghairm (pronounced slua-gherum), which is Gaelic for “battle cry?” Just a bit of trivia.These are already copyrighted, just to protect the innocent LOL

Back in the early 70’s they had a slogan for Tom it was “A MAN AND A HALF: TOM JONES,” but I really love Laura’s last idea but I can had one more to her idea: THE VOICE, THE MAN, THE INCOMPARABLE….TOM JONES

The Dominion Post in NZ titled a review “Panting for Tom.” I like the suggestions above especially “A Knight to Remember”, “SexBomb” and simply “The Voice”…or “Two Hundred Pounds of Heavenly Joy”!

I like ” THE BODY AND SOUL OF TOM JONES.” That is how I felt this morning as I was thinking about seeing him in concert tonight. I was wanting to bring a poster and was wondering what to say on it. These listed are all good. Tom Jones fans are the best!!!
