Tom Jones & Sexbomb: An Amazing Combination; Here’s Another That’s Pretty Good
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008
We don’t want to upset any purists out there, so we’ll say clearly and unequivocally right up front that Tom Jones sings the definitive version of Mousse T’s Sexbomb and no one does it better.
But Marisa sent us a link to a version done by Mousse T with a British singer named Emma Lanford. When she sent it, Marisa suggested a duet might be fun to hear; a duet of this song or any song. What do you think? We think it’s a cool arrangement and would love to hear Tom again — just once — with a full orchestra. (And if you know us you know how we love his band.)
This is a live version of Mousse T and Emma Lanford doing Sexbomb.
PS: We looked it up and the name of the song — Sexbomb — is definitely one, single word.

mmmhh - Me Like It - so jazzy - and she and TOM would set the stage on fire doing a duet:)

I like it and I like the full orchestra but no duets…I like my Tom undiluted.

Susanne - I also prefer TOM on his own
but she got very soulful voice I would like to see them in duett - then she can go and leave us with TOM, hahahaha

Yes please to the full orchestra….even if it was just one concert…maybe a Special. No duets, thank you!

I think Emma does a great job - I like her voice. But, I personally don’t like the song with a full orchestra. Just my humble opinion. I like Tom’s recording.

Great arrangement and cover version. Sultry singer. Thank you for sharing. I, too, wish that Tom would tour — at least once — with a full orchestra.

I thought the orchestra was fantastic, especially the sexy way the trumpet ended it. In my opinion the only one that can sing that song is Tom. I’d like to hear Tom sing it with that orchestra. No duets, please.

I like this girl’s version But no one puts the punch behind it like Tom. Full orchestra — yes, please and a duet would be interesting.

I completely understand the “no duets please” sentiment . I also like my Tom “undiluted” and I wouldn’t want to see another debacle like the Joss Stone duet, but it seems he really enjoys collaborating with newcomers.
