Tickets For Tom Jones In Atlantic City: It’s Good News/Bad News, Depending On Your Perspective (& Your Pocketbook)

Friday, August 1 at 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 2 at 8 p.m. are days and times that have Tom Jones fans in the northeast panting in anticipation. With a New Jersey schedule that has lately featured two performances, rather than three (in winter) or four (in warm weather) as was standard, these people want some Tom!

When tickets went on sale May 17 at noon, it was immediately apparent that good seats were hard to find. Priced reasonably at $60.50, $40.50 and $25.50, it seemed the shows were within the reach of most fans, especially when compared with ticket prices elsewhere.

Factored into any seat availability in a casino are the tickets put aside for high rollers. That always makes the best seats in the house more difficult to obtain.

This time in AC, Tom will be playing in the 5,292-seat Mark G. Etess Arena, rather than the Taj’s 1,400-seat Xanadu showroom. The arena’s used for all sorts of events — from boxing to comedy to Tom Jones.

So, now, the good news is that you can still get front row center tickets to see Tom. The bad news is that they’re being sold for $975 each (and you must buy two) for Friday night and, for Saturday night, they have four (4) tickets front and center for $1,040 each. You only have to buy two of the four.

This can be considered good news for Sir Tom — his tickets are certainly in demand, otherwise the scalpers (oooh! did we say “scalpers” out loud?) wouldn’t be hoarding them to sell.

Of course, the bad news is that the fans suffer.

These tickets can be found at a range of prices and for very good and very bad seats at several ticket sites. We won’t list them or link to them. If you’re interested you’ll have to do that yourself. If you do, bear in mind that there are a lot of counterfeit tickets floating around in cyberspace.

In addition, seats for Tom’s shows at the MGM Grand August 7 through 20 and October 30 through November 12 are being sold for exorbitant prices — $370, for example, for seats in Section 2, Row C. They’re OK seats, but they’re pretty far back. If you buy tickets from the MGM box office, they are $92.40 each. And you’ll probably get better seats.

For both venues we have to note that tickets are still available at the box office and, at least in the case of MGM, you can do better at the box office.

As we — and lots of people down through the centuries — have said before, caveat emptor (”let the buyer beware”).

NOTE: For information on ticket “reselling” laws, check out this website posted by the the government of Connecticut. USA Today says “…State laws governing the resale of tickets are often murky. In New Jersey, it is illegal for a licensed broker or season ticket holder to sell a ticket to any event held in the state for more than 50% above the price the broker or season ticket holder paid.” We believe $1,000+ is more than 50 percent over the face value of a ticket that sells for $80.50. Nevada — no surprise —has no scalping law.The New England Patriots sued StubHub for violating the teams scalping laws and the online broker had to turn over the names of 13,000 people who were reselling the football team’s tickets.

Please Tom don’t strain yourself and get sick like last year…we’ll all be waiting for you in Vegas.

Now I am not sure of my seats. When I purchased the tickets I thought it was in the Xanadu and I thought I had 14 row. Now, looking at the tickets I am not sure where I am sitting. I hope I will be able to see him without binoculars. I will bring them just in case. Does any one know if you are able to upgrade your seats if you get there early? Also are any of you TJI fans going to be there? Would like to meet you!!! Still can’t wait as I was one of the ones that was left in the cold last year when Tom had to cancel and I really missed Tom.

I just checked the Taj website and the arena, I think I have really good seats that I purchased from Ticketmaster. I am in section 103 which looks like it is right in front of the stage and I have row 14.

Hi Val, I will be going both Fri. and Sat nights. You do have good seats! I was at the computer the second tickets went on sale and was still only able to get row 23 on a side section for Fri, and row 29 in the middle section for Sat. Would like to meet you too!!!

  6. Maureen Says:

Well I haave seen Tom at Harrah’s and had to purchase tickets that said “blocked view” but when I got there I had terrific seats 2nd.row at the end..but if I had been in further it would have been blocked..I don’t think these seats should be for sale. Well I am going to the Taj Mahal August 1st. and 2nd. Friday I am in the center but in the 19th row and Saturday I bought these tickets later I have a better seat…but the minuute the tickets go on sale there is no way you can get any where near the first say 5 rows…sold out to these ticket brokers…and I never stay at the hotel Tom is appearing too expensive. I have never seen Tom in Vegas..can’t afford it!!!

  7. gill Says:

Who the heck can afford tickets of £500? No matter how much you love Tom. Has the world gone mad?

  8. Marisa Says:

This makes no sense to me …how many people are they realistically expecting, not over 5,000?!? Are people really paying those prices or is that just what the scalpers would like them to pay? Is this his first time at this venue?

  9. Carol Says:

I tried to get tickets for this venue through Ticketmaster the day that went on sale and all they offered me was the 29th or 30th row. That’s not good enough for me. And as much as I love this MAN I will not pay $975 for a seat with some of the ticket brokers. So I researched all the ticket brokers and went with Ticketmaster’s new company called “Tickets Now”. They are on the up-and -up and I got good seats for $112 each - Section 102 - Row 8 - next to center. There is nothing like buying tickets at the MGM though- you call their box office and I, once again, got front row seats for 3 nights (and 1 night to see Cher at Caesar’s). I’ve seen the Arena at the Taj and it is ENORMOUS! But his voice will surely fill it. Enjoy everyone !!!!

  10. Val C Says:

Audrey, Carol, Maureen, would like to meet all of the TJI fans either before or after the performance on Friday the 1st. I couldn’t get into the Taj to stay but I did get into the Trump Plaza at a reasonable rate. I am soooo looking forward to this performance. I hope Tom is ready for us!!! (LOL)

  11. SusannePDX Says:

All you gals have a wonderful time in AC and get Tom all juiced up for Vegas! ;-)

  12. Marisa Says:

Carol…did people move down to the front after he started when you saw him at the Arena at the Taj or was it full? Tickets in Section 101 were $40 on Ticketmaster last night if you put in 1 as a quantity.

  13. Carol Says:

Marisa - I have never seen Sir Tom at the Taj, but at other venues if there are seats not taken you can either “slither” to them when security isn’t looking (which I wouldn’t do because I’ve seen many people get caught) or you can “tip” someone and possibly get closer (that has worked for me many times)

I was in Colorado when the tickets to the Taj Mahal went on sale. I went on line to TicketMaster at 9:00 a.m. (11:00 eastern time). As soon as 10:00 a.m. came, I got through to the place to order, I ordered best available on Friday night and got section 104, row 30, seat 1, that’s the last row…best available, HA. Then I went on to order my seat for Saturday, again best available, I got section 103, (middle section) row 24, seat 4. Best available??????? unless you are rich and can afford those outrageous prices. It is legalized scalping (robbery)! The tickets I bought were the $60.50 seats. I think there should be some National legislation.

Dear Moderators - very good point. I’m not saying any of this to offend, but, just as a word of warning. It would be great if we could be certain that only fans of Tom Jones read certain websites and forums. But, alas, it is not always the case. From personal experience, I would strongly suggest that giving out personal information such as the seat you will be occupying at a show is not really a good idea. All folks reading this site now know your name and where you will be seated! I know we trusting souls don’t think like maniacs, but they are out there and could be reading information that gives them your name and they then can become a “familiar fan.” I know that the fans that post on this site are not of that ilk, but ANYONE can read these postings. Again, I speak from personal experience. Please be safe!! And, have a great time with our Sir Tom!!

  17. Carol Says:

Excellent point about safety. You can never be too careful. That’s why I did not mention my actual seats above. They’re close but not exactly there. ENJOY !
